A crazy policy...I agree Bea! You would think the casino would want the business. I applied for a 7 day cruise with my voucher and they would only say “it did not apply to this cruise”. And this was within the nine month requirement and was not a holiday cruise.:mad::mad:

I contacted MSC UK last week to enquire about using the 30% voucher, with the 10% future cruise discount as well as the 5% Voyagers Club discount to book a cruise for later this year, only to be told that "I don't know"! I pointed out that nowhere did it state that any of these discounts could not be combined with any other. The rep came back after a couple of days and concurred!

I can't believe they wouldn't accept your voucher. There are only 2 conditions: book within 2 months and sail within 9 months. I would have fought them on it, had I been in your position. That voucher applies to ALL cruises; you only need to meet the 2 conditions stipulated.

Thanks Bea,

I feel the same way. We did write to the person in charge and sent a copy to her boss...and told her that her answer was unacceptable. A follow up email resulted in no response. I will take the paperwork with me on my next voyage...hopefully in April. OH WELL.:')

At the moment, I'm feeling like I've had enough of MSC and the constant experience of shifting sands that comes with sailing with them. I say this after 18 cruises with them and 3 more booked. I'm seriously cancelling the furthest one out - a first for me - and forfeiting the €200 booking deposit (non-refundable in this neck of the woods). There are 2 factors preventing me:

  1. I won't have to make a decision for a few months yet as it's not 'til March 2019 so I don't have flights & hotels booked yet and
  2. The itinerary is very appealing. I managed to book a 31 night repo which includes an 11 night Miami-Miami loop with a 20 night TA on Divina which heads back to the Med. This is no longer being offered as a 31 night cruise, so I'm biding my time.

ETA ............ Apologies to the OP for the off-topic post.

Can I ask if he was playing @ max bet? I've always thought that you could only win that top prize while playing at max (I won the top prize of €1200 once while betting @ max). However, on a recent cruise, one of the casino staff told me that someone had won the top prize of €8000 (or so) the week before and they weren't playing @ max.

Yes, he was playing the max.

Penny machine but max was $2.50 that is why this jackpot was $5,000 plus.

If you played the minimum of 50 cents, the jackpot would have bee $1,000 plus.

The magic number has always been 1200. I recently sent in my letter through my TA and MSC WOULD NOT HONOR the 30% discount. What really got me PO'd was that there was no explanation with their refusal...even after I wrote back to mgmt. NO EXPLANATION!:mad::mad:

I will argue this one with the casino mgmt once I get onboard Seaside this year. I had three cruises booked with MSC...and dropped them after they pulled this on me.

This is actually the last night of this cruise and I just got my letter.

It says you MUST book within 2 months of receipt and cruise within 9 months of that.

Could that have been your problem ????

I booked this cruise with my letter from Divina last year. They were great and actually gave me month of extension . I explained to them that I have 7 grandchildren and could not possibly travel over the holidays.

You won’t believe this. I started making inquiries in November well before the two month deadline Dec. 7th. I had already booked a cruise for Sept. 2018. I asked them if they would discount that...no answer. So...I then booked a cruise for April 28th...well within the nine month rule. My reservation was Dec. 9th...two days beyond the two month deadline. I got an instant answer on that...NO!! I demanded an explanation and got none. They really know how to PO their biggest fans. I was prepared to take three more cruises with them this year and would have played in the casino each time. How dumb is that??

Thank you Shippy for responding. At least I now know that they will bend the rules a bit. I have collected the names of the people I have dealt with and will be forwarding my paper work to mgmt.

Thanks for that! That was a nice win on playing @ $2.50. IIRC I was betting €5 a go when I hit the jackpot of €1200 plus.

On the subject of the voucher - I, too, was able to extend the 9 month deadline by a couple of weeks on one of my bookings. I don't know about extending the use by date, though.

WOW Bea! I think that announcement deserves some attention!

Also apologizing to the OP for being off topic.;)

I'm trying to stay positive as we have a 28 night cruise on Splendida coming up in 10 weeks time. I've lowered my expectations quite a bit, despite the fact that we'll be in YC for this one. I'm also trying not to be too negative on the forum, either, despite how I'm feeling about the direction in which MSC is going.

On-topic: I used a casino voucher for this upcoming cruise which was worth a little over €4000 discount!

WOW Bea...one revelation after another! 4,000 € I am jealous!! I can’t even get them to answer an email!! UUGGGHHHH,!:mad:

Bummer....because I think I forgot to mention that if you get 'the letter' it also includes an amount of cash that you will receive in the casino on your next visit.

I cannot remember how many points that I had on my cruise with Divina but I was able to collect $150.00 on this cruise with no problem.

I had almost 4,000 points on this Seaside cruise so my letter states that I will collect $250. cash on my next cruise.
