Accommodation in Auckland

looking at accommodation for our Dec 13 Solstice cruise back to Oz, not sure where the terminal is in relation to good hotels, any recommendations? We will be taking the train from Wellington and have 2 nights before the cruise to explore.

The ship docks in a very central location; similar to Circular Quay in Sydney. So you should be right with any accommodation booked in a CBD location.

If you are checking it out on a map ....Celebrity Solstice docks at Princes Wharf , very handy to several Hotels.

The train arrives from Wellington at Strand Station , which is a bit further along in Parnell.

I highly recommend the Waldorf Stadium Apartment Hotel. It's 1.4km from the wharf, and is an easy walk to all of the downtown attractions and restaurants. The apartments have an in-room laundry so useful for last minute pre-cruise laundry. Very comfortable. There is a large supermarket close by for last minute needs.

We got very good rates at the Quadrant Hotel & Suites in Auckland for our pre-cruise stay in a few weeks. It's walking distance down to the pier area and to some good shopping, or there are a couple of bus stops on the same street.

I do many cruises from auckland each year , i live out of town & get a flight up the day before and stay over night .

I always stay at the Best Western President on Victoria St .

This hotel is only 5 mins walk from cruise terminal ,easy with your wheeled suitcases .

I normally get a standard room at $ 199 , its not 5 star, only 3 star but it is close to everything .

Very clean ,quiet rooms . handy to all the eateries , casino & 50 metres to main city st ,which is Queen St.

Which you use to get to cruise terminal .

Being just before xmas , for your cruise , you might start looking & booking soon if you decide to stay in CBD.

We've booked CBD Viaduct for next year -looks like it's within walking distance from the terminal. Booked it for the location and that we don't have to prepay. Close to restaurants, just hope it's not noisy on a weekend.
