Halibut fishing

I think my stepfather would love to go halibut fishing. Are there any halibut fishing excursions that you can recommend?

What ports will he be in, and will he be extending the time in Alaska before or after the cruise?

Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point, Vancouver, Seward, and he is open to staying a day or two after the cruise.

Icy Strait Point and Seward are the best for halibut. World record halibut was caught near ISP a few years ago and Seward is where many Alaskan go to catch their halibut.

Up near Seward there are lots of great charters for Halibut. However, keep in mind this year that there are restrictions on Tuesday and Wednesday and no Halibut fishing on those days this year in the Seward/Homer area. We fished Halibut in Ketchikan a couple years back and expect to do it again there as we had a good time and caught our limit. We booked that off the ship. Tried salmon fishing in Juneau and didn't have much luck there.

Thank you for the information. Icy Straight Point should be perfect. I wasn't sure what shore excursion there would entertain everyone. Now I can just split up the group. :D
