New Years Cruise Question

Recommended Posts

We were on a Carnival cruise a few years ago that was one of the most memorable New Years ever. We boarded the ship in Miami on New Years Eve afternoon and they handed us a glass of champagne upon boarding.

They had a New Years party on top deck that night. The ship was late leaving port that night and Miami was cold. They filled the hot tubs with ice and bottles of champagne and about 11:30 they started serving complimentary champagne. The temps were too cold for most of the folks on board except for the hearty ones like me and my family. Right before midnight they started handing people full bottles of champagne. They shot a few fireworks off and it was a super cool New Years to say the least. We keep saying that we want to go on another New Years Eve cruise...may try another next year.

We have sailed on 2 different Royal Caribbean ships over New Year's, and they don't serve the "free" champagne until shortly before midnight, maybe starting around 11:30PM.

They do make it very festive and provided hats and noisemakers, as well as confetti.

The festivities will be on deck, unless the weather doesn't cooperate.

Ginnie is right, they don't start serving until shortly before midnight, but if you station yourself near one of the serving tables where there are not a lot of other champagne drinkers, you can get QUITE A LOT.

Parties are all over the ship: Poolside, main central area (depending on the ship - Promenade on Voyager class, Centrum on others), assorted lounges.

New Year's Eve on board a cruise ship is pure magic. Do it. We're going to be on EOS for New Year's this year, too. There are THREE E's in the Royal Caribbean fleet. We'll be on the Enchantment. :D

We were on the Radiance this past New Years eve. It was our best New Years ever. They provided hats, noisemakers, streamers, for everyone in the dining room. Sometime between 11:00 PM and 11:30, everyone made their way to various levels of the Centrum. Champaigne was flowing freely on the levels which had bars. The captain (hurdy gurdy), the Cruise Director, and the Hotel Director announced the countdown as we watched it on a giant screen, At the stroke of midnight, balloons dropped from the ceiling.

The bars and dance floors remained open until the wee hours.

Can't wait to do it again!!
