Our Daughter, Son in law and grand daughter sailed with us on RCCL Liberty of Seas, at approx same age as your grand child will be.

We had a balcony and they had a mini suite a few doors away. The suite gave them the extra room for toys, books, colourings etc. Grand daughter slept on bed settee which was comfortable for a small child but not so comfortable for an adult...know that as looked after her one evening for parents to go out.

They appreciated having a bathtub, kettle etc in the cabin.

At that age, the little one was not that keen to go to Children's Club, without a parent being with her. She did eventually settle and stayed for an hour or two, on her own.

We had Anytime dining..and worked around her naps..not usual at home, but in the heat and later evenings needed them.

Cabin steward was fantastic ( and received a generous tip above auto grats), working around their schedule too.

It was a Caribbean cruise, so they enjoyed beaches at ports , except Falmouth, where they just walked around purpose built dock area, had drink, watched show and returned aboard.

They all enjoyed and have been since. Now waiting for next one which fits all our available times...school holidays for Daughter and Grand daughter, Son in Law's holidays are 'fixed' etc, and suitable itinerary.

planning to take our 4.5 year old grandson on his first cruise 6/19

We are Princess cruisers and have cruised other lines previously-

Looking at Carribean Princess -

Any suggestions or advice?

Thanks

We had our three grandchildren on the Regal Princess Halloween cruise last year.

Sign up your grandson at the kids club the first day. My three loved it.

Their parents were also with us but have others have advised you, have a power of attorney, a copy of the birth certificate, passport, and medical insurance.

We were only on the ship a couple of hours at dinner on the first night when our four year old grandson lost his balance and fell in the dining room hitting his head above the eye on a corner of the dining room table requiring a visit to medical to stop the bleeding. Since he missed desert chocolate chip cookies were delivered to his mini suite cabin.

We have been taking our granddaughter on Princess since she was 9 months old. At the age of 3, she started spending time in the Kids area and loved it! She wanted to be there form 9 am (when it opened) until 10 pm (closing time). We only had to take her out for 1 hour at lunch and 1 hour at dinner. We had late seating with others and then picked her up at 10 after dinner. Turned out to be a great vacation for all of us. She has been on 8 princess cruises and raves about the kids zone. Princess limits the number of kids and has youth counselors (1 for every 10 or so kids on board). They also issue a pager in case they need to locate you.
