Tasmania or not?

Recommended Posts

we are looking at several itineraries, some include Hobart, Tasmania and some do not. Would we be missing out by not going to Tasmania? Also, some include Melbourne and some do not. Melbourne looks like a big city. Is it worth including in our itinerary or can we skip it!

I would visit both, if possible. Otherwise, I'd choose Hobart, Tasmania over Melbourne. Hobart's small size makes it perfect for a day visit on a ship. You can enjoy fish and chips from a variety of restaurants on the wharf and walk downtown from the ship. It is a very tourist friendly town, with information available on what to see and do on the wharf.

Melbourne, which is a big city, is our sporting and theatre capital.

Totally agree.

It may vary depending on the rest of your itinerary, but for me Tasmania wins by a mile.

Hobart for sure. Small city with plenty of easily accessible things to do on a day in port. Melbourne is just another big city much like you see in any country
