Personal Driver?

Has anyone ever used a personal driver on the island? Would like to have for 3 - 4 hours on the island.

No, sorry...we just hop on the public bus and it takes you almost everywhere!

I haven't, but I've rented a car both times I've been for a private excursion. And loved the freedom!

How does the Bus work? Do you pay once for the whole route or each time you hop on and off? Thinking of taking a route that stops at turtle farm, hell and back. Thx.

The bus stops at all the designated stops, so I found it to be a huge drag in that respect. You have so much more freedom with a driver. They drive on the “wrong” side of the road, so we didn’t want to rent a car.

 

I never did find a driver.

 

The bus was cheap and easy, but it took a while to make all the stops.

So when I get on this bus will the driver will tell me all about the island history and everything we are passing. will they stop and lets us get a photo and then continue. If not then it does not serve the purpose of an island tour does it.

Googling “cayman private driver” came up with many useful links, including this one:

We’ve never used them, but we see their vans and buses around a lot.

 

You can also ask at the port when you arrive. Many of the taxi drivers would be happy to be your driver for the day, for the right price...

Thank you! We are going to rent a car - my husband and I were married on Cayman in 1998 - WOWZERS! - frequent it often - I was nervous b/c he always drives and it will be just me and our 12 y/o daughter. He talked me into it - keep shoulder to ditch! Those traffic circles though - whew..hopefully we can follow someone! ;)
