Is there self-serve laundry on the Rotterdam?

Yes -- just look at ship diagram and you will see. There are two or three.

We tried the one on the Dolphin deck in October, but it was so crowded we used the steward for the "$20 a bag" deal. Comes back clean and folded, in a wicker basket.

It is the VISTA class ships that do not have self serve laudries: the Zuiderdam, Oosterdam, Westerdam and Noordam. The other ships have them.

Balliett, did it cost $20 per bag for the laundry on the Rotterdam? On all other ships in the HAL family it is $12 per bag.......jean:cool:

Thank you. I didn't see the laundry facilities at first. Are these free and what type of soap is available? Are there hours for doing laundry as well?

IIRC the charge is $1.00 to wash and $2.00 to dry; you can get quarters at the Front Desk. Soap is provided via a button on the machine (don't add too much!).

The laundry is open 24 hours a day; I'd be careful about making too much noise there at 2:00 AM however.:eek: It's always crowded on the first sea day after several port days. A good time to use it is when everyone is getting ready for second sitting dinner/cocktail hour. Half the ship is at dinner and the other half getting ready! No one's in the laundry.

Can't say that I do. Maybe four of each on the Lower Prom deck?

btw---you don't have to use the machines on your deck. Sometimes it's closer to your cabin to go up or down a deck to do your laundry.
