Aix on Your Own Ship Excursion

Has anyone taken this ship excursion? If so, are you really on your own other than the transportation or is there some sort of tour involved (the notes talk about standing and steps at the cathedral but I;m not sure if that is part of the tour or only if you do it on your own when there).

 

It shows its a 6 hour trip, do you know how long the drive is each way to figure out how long you actually have to walk around Aix?

I cannot speak to your tour, but we have driven that route (in a rental car) in about 40 minutes. There are also frequent trains and buses (St Charles Train Station) if you think about doing it on your own.

From which port?? Marseille and Toulon both have excursions to Aix.

 

I went from Toulon on a ship tour and enjoyed it. Afterwards I realised that if we had waited till we went on a cruise to Marseille, it would have been easy to DIY. Not sure that you *need* a guide to get you around.

We went on a ship excursion from Toulon. One reason we used the ship excursion was because it was Sunday. The excursion included a guided portion through the old part of Aix. Not everyone went with the guide. The excursion was not very expensive and we could recommend it. This was through Royal.
