B2B Mariner questions

I will be doing a B2B on the Mariner soon. I booked the GTY cabins, as none were available to choose from when I booked. Needless to say, I am in different cabins and different decks for the cruises. How exactly does a B2B work with luggage and key Cards? Do I have to haul all my luggage around until cabins are opened up for the second cruise? Do they take us into the port terminal for processing, or does guest services handle everything?

Any tips, tricks, or advice on Royal Back to Backs are greatly appreciated.

Normally, you have to pack up everything that is not on hangers, and the stateroom attendants will move your bags and items on hangers to the new stateroom. Confirm this with the stateroom attendants.

The only real issue is the safe. Sometimes people arrange with new steward to get into safe as soon as old occupants leave. Or you can bury the contents in a suitcase. Or you can take a small carry-on with you between the times you leave the old cabin and get into the new one. As a "continuing cruiser" you are allowed inside the fire doors to access the new cabin before they open up to the general public. You will get an "In Transit" card to carry. That said, the doors are heavy and hard to open.

Normally in the US you will leave the ship in a group after the last departing passengers leave, process through Immigration, get new cruise cards, and be escorted back on. If there is a large group of B2B the Immigration folks may come onboard and do this in a dining room. You can also just get off to walk around town or tour, but you won't be allowed back on until boarding starts. This card lets you through the Suite line to get back in the terminal and onboard.

Well....that's simple enough! Thank you! Do you know if they have everyone leave the ship, then return...or do we stay on the ship?

Normally, all B2B guests leave the ship briefly, but every once in a while the customs agents come on board and process the B2B guests there.

Your new key card will be supplied a few days before the end of yje cruise. Also instructions will be supplied about your cabin change. Also talk to your room steward. We've on some B2B been told to leave everything in the night table drawers they just moved the draws to the new cabin.

Thank you for your response! I had no idea some of the room stewards handled the move, too! They are awesome!
