bdjam Posted January 14, 2006 #26 Share Posted January 14, 2006 No windows anywhere. It’s on Deck 2 – it’s below the waterline – windows are a little impractical. While it isn’t the newest, most window laden gym in town, I think the space is adequate. If I want to run, I don’t use treadmills, I get out on deck where there’s sunshine and fresh air – I think the machines there are comparable to what is on other Princess ships as is the size of the aerobics area. The only real difference is the lack of cardio machines and windows and as I say, I find going outside takes care of both issues. One advantage - being that far down in the hull, its very stable...you don't have to worry about ship movement.
aaerobear Posted January 14, 2006 #27 Share Posted January 14, 2006 Just back from the FTL-RIO cruise on the Regal and she is in as good shape as she ever was. Not much has changed either (card room, internet , etc. all different) The rooms are great, and the service and food were all very good. The cruise director was Sammi and she is a pistol, she runs a great ship and has a really fabulous staff (Brett, Amanda,Natasha,Richard,Bill) they all worked their tails off to make sure ebveryone had a better than great cruise. One of our favorite entertainments was listening to the guitarist, Darrel Orr, when he was playing. It was wonderful music and quiet and easy to listen to. The piano player in the Adagio was just to damn loud.

SeattleJerry Posted January 15, 2006 #30 Share Posted January 15, 2006 My lovely wife and I took our very first cruise on the Regal way back in 2000. What a lovely ship. The service and the staff were outstanding. The food was some of the best. I highly recommend sailing her at least once. We have also sailed on the Sapphire and on the Sun and the Regal still brings the best memories. I do have to say that on the Regal we had an inside cabin. Which was very roomy. The odd thing was that there were curtains on the back wall like it was covering a window. One of the best pictures I have is my wife standing there holding open the curtains and showing the wall. The dome were the casino is could be put to better use. It is very nice to sit in and watch the scenery go by in Alaska. However the glass is darkened and taking pictures through it can be a hassle with it being sloped as well. The pizzeria was great. We would sit in there at night enjoy pizza and just talk. A great way to wind down the day. I hope you enjoy your cruise on her as much as my wife and I did. SeattleJerry
Alan2504 Posted January 16, 2006 Author #31 Share Posted January 16, 2006 Thanks for all your replies! We've gone ahead and booked a mini-suite as far forward as we could get, just in case there is some noise from the pool area. So we are now looking forward to some "regal" treatment courtesy of Princess :) Out of interest, what sort of on-board "celebrations" take place at Hogmanay( New Years Eve) .....its it normally a formal night? Thanks again Alan
aaerobear Posted January 16, 2006 #32 Share Posted January 16, 2006 NYE was a truly great experience, it was a formal night and there were shows and bands all over, the Atrium had a very festive midnight baloon and streamer party, with champagne and dancing (crew and pax). All in all it was a very safe and sane way to spend NYE>
Druke I Posted January 16, 2006 #33 Share Posted January 16, 2006 Well - another Regal Princess fan here. We have been on her twice, and are scheduled to go again on 3-9-06, 'round the Horn. Looking at her web-cam today, it looks like she is in some very rough water enroute to Port Stanley, Falklands. Last year, some passengers from HAL got "stranded" on the island overnight, when the tenders couldn't land to pick up passengers on excursion. Although we are looking forward to a bumpy ride 'round the Horn, we hope we are not also stranded on the island!
Alan2504 Posted January 16, 2006 Author #34 Share Posted January 16, 2006 Druke, Yes.....I did pick up on the web-cam earlier today.....some "interesting" seas! bdjam Posted January 16, 2006 #35 Share Posted January 16, 2006 It does look like she’s met with some angry seas today – Regal Princess rides the waves well – I’ll be she’s doing OK.
