Not everyone is going to adhere to your (or my) idea of what is proper. Time to let it go. Just sayin . . . Thanks for the reminder. My "bug" is not so much the specific naive bribery as it is the general misinformation offered by some CC posters. This is the "new cruiser" forum where novices are introduced to a lifestyle replete with challenges, traditions, "hacks" et al. unfamiliar to them. And it is unfortunate that some of the suggestions given are so erroneous.

What others do in this regard doesn't really bother me, but I have to admit I didn't think about it in terms of misleading a new cruiser. Anyway, it was nice to get some much needed rain and clear the air.
lauren009 Posted December 1, 2018 #28 Share Posted December 1, 2018 I didn't read though all the replys, but I have a blog post about cruise tipping that you can read over if you still have any questions: http://laurenofalltrades.blogspot.com/2018/06/cruise-automatic-gratuities.html
jlp20 Posted December 1, 2018 #29 Share Posted December 1, 2018 I am not going to get into the whole tip/no tip argument. The vast majority of cruise ships sail under foreign flags, so U.S. labor laws do not apply. Stewards get room and board and a token payment. They depend on the tips for their lively hood. The problem was the cheap passengers that would slip off the ship without leaving tips for anyone. To keep their labor force, the lines started adding automatic tips. Once your on the ship and see what a steward does for you, make up your own mind.
