Boxerlover2 Posted March 29 #277 Share Posted March 29 (edited) Date of Cruise: 13 March 2024 Ship: Edge Cabin #: 11160 Deck #: 11 Cabin Category: Magic Carpet Sky Suite Cabin Location: Mid Bed Position: Positioned between closet / bathroom door and couch; bed was facing a wall with mounted TV. Balcony Type: Regular balcony next to Magic Carpet Balcony/Window Size: Balcony sticks out from the ship due to being next to Magic Carpet; extra wide and deep (photos attached). Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: The Magic Carpet "teeth" were sometime visible pending the position of Magic Carpet. Additional window on the balcony facing forward was very nice. The orange paint on one side of the balcony could be bothersome to some. Balcony Overhang?: Magic Carpet Issues?: Never heard or saw the Magic Carpet move pass our balcony. Noise Issues?: Our cabin creaked and popped loudly, all day and night during rough seas. We also heard what sounded like someone was foot stomping (although no one was). Noise came from all sides of walls and ceiling. The bathroom also had a minor noise of some sort of screw rolling back and forth in the ceiling wall (this was not heard in the bedroom). Wind Issues?: No Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: Yes, connects in a separate private hallway. Suite Details: We had to open two doors to get into our suite. One door from the main hallway opened into a small private hallway which connected to our suite and could also connect with another cabin. The second door opened into our suite. The table next to the couch was very large, but extremely low to the ground. We were not able to use the table to eat our in-room dining meals unless we sat on the floor. Advantages/Problems/Comments: See cabin noise issues. Would You Book It Again?: We would not book this cabin again due to multiple noise issues that the engineers could not fix. Rare 81Zoomie Posted May 13 #279 Share Posted May 13 Date of Cruise: Mar 26, 2024 and Apr 5, 2024 B2B Ship: Edge Cabin #: 10176 Deck #: 10 CabinCategory: S3, Magic Carpet Sky Suite Cabin Location: On the Magic Carpet Track BedPosition: By the bath/closet facing toward the aft of the ship. Balcony Type: Large covered with aft facing window. 2 upright chairs and table plus 2 loungers. Balcony/WindowSize: BIG! Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: Orange magic carpet pillar on one corner. The aft view window is a bonus! Balcony Overhang?: Normal Magic Carpet Issues?: None. It only moved 1 or 2 times in 21 nights. Noise Issues?: YES! In rough seas with perpendicular wind conditions the balcony door and the cabin ceiling snapped, crackled, and popped loudly throughout the day and night. This happened on at least 4 days. We had “joiners” come look at and grease the balcony door twice. There was no place to move is as all suited were taken. No issues in calm seas. No noise from the main hallway. Wind Issues?: See above. Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: Connects to another cabin through a separate hallway off of the main hallway. Suite Details: Standard layout. Bed is by the closet which makes it a bit awkward if more than one persons tries to access the closet at a time. Nice bath layout with plenty of storage. A/C was a bit quirky. It would cycle from being warm to being chilly. Advantages/Problems/Comments: Big cabin and large balcony in a convenient location. Nice bathroom. We had a higher coffee table which made room service easier. While we have read about the noise on the newer E class ships, we were surprised by this issue on Edge. It was obvious the cabin had other noise issues in the past because there was a shim in the ceiling. Would You Book It Again?: Yes and no. Would not book this cabin on an itinerary known for having rough passage. No to areas like Tasman Sea, North Sea, Drake Passage, etc.
