MrmrsSteelman Posted November 24, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2018 We currently don’t have anything booked for Cozumel. It will be our last stop and I kinda wanted to just wing it. Is this port a good one to just get off the boat and do some shopping, walk to a nice beach and just hang out? We have our own snorkel gear, so maybe do some snorkeling? JohninDC Posted November 24, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2018 What ship and what date? There are three cruise ship piers on Cozumel. In general there are shops and bars within walking distance or par of the piers. If you are not at the downtown pier a taxi to San Miguel will run about $7-8 each way (fare covers up to 4 passengers in the cab). You'll need a cab to get to any of the popular beach clubs - Money Bar offers good snorkeling from the shore and good facilities; no admission fee and they offer good food/drinks/service. Taxi should be about $12 each way.

Occasionally NCL will tender to there or another pier if tgere are a lot of ships in. No beaches to walk to from town but you can walk to “No Name Bar” at Hotel Baracuda, for snorkeling and pool at no charge. We enjoy it and it is popular with the crew but i suggest you Google it - it wont suit everyone.j otherwise taxi north to Playa Azul or south to Money Bar. shaneandpamela Posted November 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 28, 2018 If I was docking in town and didn't have plans, this is what I'd do... Get off the boat as soon as you can. Walk over to Zermatt (local family owned bakery) and grab some pastries. The walk is about half a mile from the in-town dock. Walk from Zermatt to the COZ Coffee Roasting Company for coffee and the pastries you just purchased. This walk is two blocks back towards the pier. Shop a bit since you are already in town, working your way back to the ship. Take your purchases back to the ship. Grab a cab out to either Money Bar or Playa Palancar. Both have good food and strong drinks. Money Bar does not have a beach but does have a long pier out into the water if you want to swim/snorkel. Snorkeling is pretty good. Palancar has a nice beach if that is your thing, but you'd have to buy one of their little snorkel tours to get out to a reef for any good snorkeling. Grab a cab back to town. We spent two weeks in Cozy this last summer. Money Bar was the best for snorkeling and food. Palancar was the best for a beach and strong drinks. bguppies Posted November 29, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 29, 2018 Incredibly easy to walk off the ship and do some wandering and shopping. Some beaches within walking distance of some of the piers. Snorkeling is pretty bad from shore from any of the beaches, but very nice if you jump on a excursion to one of the reefs a bit off shore.
