West End or West Bay

This is my first time going to Roatan Bay Island.

 

I am thinking of taking the local bus to West Bay or West End.

 

I just want to see beaches and tourists places like shops, bars, etc

The local mini bus only goes as far as West End which is a village of shops, bars, restaurants, accommodation and Half Moon Bay Beach. 

 

If you wish to see West Bay you can take the water taxi from West End. 

 

I recommend starting in West End if time allows pop over the West Bay. Please understand the minibus is not direct and it does take some time, consider it more the scenic route.

You''ll dock in Coxen Hole.  For a minibus you need to exit the port and head toward town.  Aout a 1/4 mile down you'll see Eldon's and the Hotel Coral. Turn left and head to the Super Mercado, which is where the Ruta #2 mini buses for West End start.  Drivers will accept US$ but if you want lempiras, just go into the Mercado and buy something hand them $5 and they'll give you change in lempiras.
