Return Rental Car to FLL then Uber to Port Everglades

Prior to our Cruise my husband and I will have a rental car from National that we are returning to FLL airport.  When we return the rental, can we get an uber to come to the rental car location or will we need to get back to the main terminal and locate the uber pickup area (is there a specific pickup area or just drop your pin?)?  Also might it be better to drive to the port and drop off luggage and then drive back to airport and uber back without our luggage or is that just too much hassle. Thanks for input.

First, why not arrange to drop your car at a near port office? Might be cheaper, and saves some of these issues.

 

Yes, Uber will pick you up at the rental car area. If you Uber, no need to drop off luggage first, but you can.

Hi Cruiser Bruce - I did look on the National Car website and the airport looks like the closest location by far, so I guess i'm stuck with that - agree not the best logistics!

We were just on a cruise out of PE.  Our friends returned a rental car and tried to use Lyft to port and it would not link up.  Had to get a taxi.  Not sure why that would happen so have Lyft and Uber on phone.

A much earlier post suggested that the FLL airport rental car facility has a free shuttle for those renting cars there.  Does anyone have more current experience with this?  Does each rental company have their own shuttle or is there a single rental facility shuttle, or is this feature no longer available?  We'll be renting a car from National before the cruise and after so hope to use this option on both ends.

Unfortunately this service has been discontinued. Must take cab, lyft or uber now.
