tvo7 Posted April 15, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2019 They look great and fun to swim in online but are they safe? In terms of getting sick from some bacteria in the water?
grantbob Posted April 15, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2019 I have done it several times and never had a problem. The water is super clear in the ones I have been on.
tvo7 Posted April 19, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted April 19, 2019 Ok thanks. I am looking at the RCI excursion Hidden World Snorkel and Mayan Outback adventure. Has anyone done this excursion?
maldenmusic Posted April 23, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2019 We've been in the cenote at Dzib ruins outside Progreso several times. The first few times the water was super cold and refreshing but the last time, a couple of years ago, the water was very warm. Not sure what was going on but we didn't swim in it long. busymom_ot Posted June 9, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2019 I was super sick with severe stomach virus after a cruise 1/18. We attribute it to swimming in the cenotes. My husband didn’t swim and he was fine. My BF also didn’t swim and she was fine. Her husband however swam with me and also was very sick getting off the ship. (We were submerging which I definitely wouldn’t recommend!)
