Civi to Rome Airport, with Day in Rome

Our cruise in November 2019 ends at Civitavecchia.  We already booked a hotel stay at the Rome Airport Hilton, but do not leave until the following morning.  This gives us one "partial" day in Rome before catching our return flight back to the US.  A couple questions:

1) For a group of 4, with luggage from a 10-day cruise, what is a good option to get from the port to the Airport Hilton to drop off our luggage.

2) What might be some sightseeing options once we drop off our luggage?

  • Request an Uber to a sight of our choice?
  • Reasonable private tour operator recommendation?
  • Other suggestions?

We know that it is impossible to see much with only one day (and limited at that).  I understand we will likely need to pick one thing to see (Vatican, Colosseum, etc), and limit our experience to that.  We know that this probably whets the appetite to go back and spend more time.  We only have so much vacation from our jobs, and unfortunately aren't able to spend more time.

Suggestions greatly appreciated! 🙂
