Refundable or Non-refundable

Since we want to choose the cabin, we have to pay for nonrefundable. ....

I don't understand this.  We always choose our stateroom and still get refundable deposit.

Last night I paid off one of my September cruises and when I received the invoice I noticed it was a refundable fare. I called this morning and changed to non refundable and saved $479!  That was for a solo 5 night Bermuda cruise.

Checked the 9 night cruise following that and switched that also and saved another $182.

Still have until final payment date to check for lower prices.

If the rule is that you can apply the deposit towards another cruise if you have to cancel then no way would I pay an additional $600 for peace of mind.

You still lose $100 per person of the deposit (though I think that may be Passengers #1 and #2 only).  It is not a simple re-apply the whole deposit.

Remember, only $100 per person is not refunded at all.  Any additional deposit is refunded as a future cruise credit.

So for a $600 difference, you can rebook 5 times, and still be $100 ahead.

Unless you have to cancel completely before final payment and you'd be out $200.
