seadog67 Posted May 18, 2019 Author #29 Share Posted May 18, 2019 We are close enough that Mrs S can give the Captain sailing directions just like she does me while driving 😉 Also, after easily 18 visits to NY we still have never made it on The Intrepid. May have to grab a hotel nearby one trip and do a visit before heading to the ship. Beautiful day on the Hudson River..
Rare amygutman Posted May 18, 2019 #30 Share Posted May 18, 2019 I'm in Dawn heaven!!!!🙌 Back-to-Back live reviews? Dang - this is just awesome! Loved the photos of the front of the ship - going to be in 10506 June 15th and seeing the front view of the balcony just made me smile. Hope you have a wonderful trip - If you are looking for a great meal in Portland, consider Dimillos - fantastic restaurant, great atmosphere. It's been years since I lived there but it was a favorite place for a meal with a view. Enjoy and thank you in advance! Amy

seadog67 Posted May 18, 2019 Author #45 Share Posted May 18, 2019 When we booked this cruise, we booked the dining package as well, and upon reserving our dinners online there was only 9 pm or later times available, so we booked them all at 9 PM or later. Upon boarding we headed to the dining table near teppanyaki and they were more than happy to adjust our reservations to a more favorable to us times of 5:30 to 6PM and we were able to book Los Lobos Mexican which we could not do online. So if you book dinners online and do not get a time you like, check soon after getting onboard and they most likely will be able to adjust your reservation times or make new reservations for you. Dinner tonight was in Cagney's and it did not disappoint.. Table for 2 please.. Mmmm warm bread. 5 Forks very good. Jumbo..(if they say so) Lump Crab Cake.. 3 out of 5 Forks.. ( Note the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail even on the dining plan has a 4.99 upcharge). Shrimp Skewers.. 4 out of 5 Forks.. Very Good and nice Flavor, could have had a few more but still good. Parmesan Truffle Fries 5 out of 5 Forks.. Really good.. Not sure what the night holds, maybe the welcome aboard show, some casino action and maybe some other things that we are not sure of yet. Will post more if anything fun takes place 🙂 Thanks for following along!

seadog67 Posted May 19, 2019 Author #48 Share Posted May 19, 2019 Well, after what felt like a long day with the excitement of traveling, we tried to see the welcome aboard show but we were late arriving and it was packed in the entrances with standers and we did not want to fight through. We made a quick donation to the casino college fund sadly and walked the deck to admire the bright moon. Tomorrow is a sea day so plans are up in the air. Since Mking provided the dailies last week let me know if you want to see them again and I will post them. Clocks ahead one hour tonight and be sure to put your breakfast order out before turning in.., Good Night Critics, see everyone bright and early tomorrow... Rare mking8288 Posted May 19, 2019 #49 Share Posted May 19, 2019 (edited) Goooood Night, Seadog - following along ... I concur about those "jumbo" (really) crab cake, they looked to be similiarly calibrated scooped servings, same sized & calories in LeBistro earlier this week ... should you decide to sample it there. Luz was loads of fun, high energy with her personality, and, ACD "Bo" was pretty good - don't miss her on stage later in the week, especially with "Showdown" either at 7 or 9 pm - performing along (oops, better not give it away.) seadog67 Posted May 19, 2019 Author #50 Share Posted May 19, 2019 Good Morning Cruise Critics, welcome to day 2 of our Dawn of a new day cruise to Canada - NE. After a very nice night sleep, we woke early, but not that early due to the hour time change to find a very nice day dawning... get it 🙂 with clear skies and calm seas. And once this premium quality internet service which facilitates streaming actually works faster than my old dial up on AOL I will upload some pictures. Small rant, but as Mking so aptly pointed out in his report the internet is laughable, in the sense that they advertise it as streaming quality. Maybe a powerpoint slide show with a slide every 5 mins counts as streaming to NCL. I would advise foregoing the Premium Plan and only get as little as you need to check emails and such. 🙂 We had a nice breakfast in the Venetian and a nice tour around the ship this morning taking in the sights while it was extremely empty was nice. Plans for today are a 2:30 Canvas Painting Class, which we hope is as fun as the one on Escape and Breakaway then we will take the day as it comes and maybe crash the Critics Meet if I can find it 🙂 Pictures in a bit of our early morning. Seadog out for now.
