If I'm boarding with a commercial bottle of water that I'm drinking, is that permitted?

No, they will not allow it.  I have had open water bottles get through occasionally at a port but it was accidental on both sides.  Just bring your bottle and refill (properly with a glass please) at the buffet station.  The bartenders will also refill your water bottles or if you have a beverage package fill it with the drink of your choice.

Just like getting to an airport security checkpoint, you can throw it out or drink it. You can not bring it past security. Please don't hold up the line with enjoying the last sips of your beverage.

No and No. as for some lines, very few anymore allow this.  I know RCI doesn't nor does Carnival. I don't know for sure about other lines. I do understand why they will not: it is like bringing booze on the plane. Business is business even if none of us like it one bit.

please people.  read what you can do before you book.  so sick of people complaining that NCL is gouging.  all lines get you one way or another.  people abuse privileges so it hurts everyone else.   I remember a couple of years back loading onto to the Breakaway in n.y. and seeing so many cases of water being tagged and given to the porters to deliver to cabins.
