I would seek guidance from the insurance company ... and explain to them what you hope to do, to be sure they even allow the change. And to have them define their expected sequence of events to preserve benefits such ad pre-existing waiver. As I see it, just seems odd to cancel a cruise and rebook something else and also to move that same insurance from a now cancelled trip to a new one. But I may be making something of nothing.
