kitty9 Posted January 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2006 No you will not need passports until 2007, but it's a much better idea to have passports. It makes everything quicker for you if you use a passport.
funcorn Posted January 27, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2006 I agree with previous poster. Passports are so much easier than carrying BC & picture ID. If you have time to get one before your cruise, I'd advise it. Then there will be NO question as to where you're from.
doone Posted January 27, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2006 I am with the other two posters here, passport is the only way to go.
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 27, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2006 Definitely get that passport. They speed up things going through the airports, immigration, etc.
Capt_BJ Posted January 27, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2006 We are booked on 7 day Alaska Inside Passage - Seattle R/T (Dawn Princess) Itinerary includes stop in Canada Will we need passports ? you will need a form of identification acceptable to US imigration authorities at your first US stop following the Canadian stop. At the present time, a 'raised seal' birth certificate is still accepted for a US citizen. However a passport is recomended and in the future will be the required document for a citizen to re-enter the US from Canada or ANY other non-US destination, as currently enacted by DHS. This rule is not unique to cruising, and will also apply to air & ground travel when re-entering the US. If the question was 'do we need a passport to go to Alaska?' No they made it a state
imsulin2 Posted January 28, 2006 #7 Share Posted January 28, 2006 I use my Passport for domestic flights, as well as International travel. It's the best identification you can have! It would be a good idea to invest in one now, to avoid the rush and probable price increase as Jan. 1, 2007 approaches! An adult Passport is good for 10 years in the U.S.
