Obstructed view on Nieuw Statendam

We're looking at the Nieuw Statendam's verandah staterooms on deck 4 (VH) that are described as obstructed or partially obstructed view. The price is very attractive but for someone who loves to spend time on her cruise ship balcony, I'd like to know what that obstruction looks like. Hoping someone has photos or just an experience with one of these staterooms.Thanks in advance for your help. Really having trouble deciding!

Look at http://halfacts.com/pinnacle-class/ for pictures of 4045/46/52/61/93  and 4142. (Click on any thumbnails to enlarge)  Note that the VH aft of center (higher than 4120) are next to tenders which are taller than the lifeboats forward of center (4107 and lower).

Obstructed view means that you have an obstacle which impacts your sight line.  Hence, the lower fare on these cabins.  If you enjoy using your balcony, you should probably consider paying a little more to have a view without any obstructions.  In the long run, it may be worth it to avoid disappointment.

We have been in a partially obstructed deck 4 veranda that looked over a smaller tender rather than the bigger lifeboat.  We could see the ocean surface when we stood but were blocked from the surface when sitting.

WE have stayed in a fully obstructed view on Nieuw Amsterdam.

The cabin was nice & large - same size as an unobstructed Balcony CAbin & much larger than an inside cabin.

 

BUT it WAS fully obstructed. There was a lifeboat that completely blocked the view.  You could only see tidbits of the sky.

However, it did not darken our room at all.  The windows are full size floor to ceiling just as if you had a walk out to a balcony.

There is NO door nor any balcony - so you won't be able to open a door or walk out to any balcony.

 

We kept the undersheer curtains drawn during the day which made our room pleasant.  It blocked the sight of the lifeboat yet let the sunlight into our Cabin.

The Nieuw Statendam is different than the Nieuw Amsterdam in that the boats hang lower (partially obstructing the actual promenade, and so only obstructing on the lower part the staterooms behind them on Deck 4. Those cabins do have balconies, albeit shallow ones, with doors to go out on them.

 

Lots of view of sky and depending on the room, some water is possible, especially when standing.
