GA Dave Posted October 11, 2019 #26 Share Posted October 11, 2019 Tybee is a special place. It still has not been overrun by high rise condos and hotels like most of the other east coast beaches. And I love Wet Willie's!!!!

lcookie Posted October 13, 2019 Author #31 Share Posted October 13, 2019 Day 2 - The Fun Continues Whenever I get to town I make it a habit to see as much of my family as I can. We usually accomplish this by meeting up for a big group breakfast. Unfortunately, due to our sudden drop in most everyone was all tied up. I did get to have lunch with the World's Best Auntie and my niece.
lcookie Posted October 13, 2019 Author #32 Share Posted October 13, 2019 After enjoying my time with the ladies the little one twisted my arm hard enough for me to go ahead and buy her some new earphones she had been bugging me for. Of course she wanted the new fad (apple earpods); however, daddy is a savvy shopper and got her a knock off that would perform just as good. She did not care so long as they were new! lcookie Posted October 13, 2019 Author #33 Share Posted October 13, 2019 After the shopping spree I had full intentions to get on the road and start heading down to FL. Little did I know the midget militia was making alternate plans. Somehow I ended up here instead of I-95.
lcookie Posted October 13, 2019 Author #34 Share Posted October 13, 2019 With that behind us and the clock ticking away we said our goodbyes, grabbed a quick meal, and hit the open road. Mama took the wheel just long enough for me to wolf down my food and get comfortable. Then she gave up the ghost. The little one has been since run outta steam. Between late night at the beach, early breakfast, and the jump house she was done dealing! So that left me up all along logging the miles as ususal. lcookie Posted October 13, 2019 Author #36 Share Posted October 13, 2019 Random Pics Daytona Speedway. I never know how close this was to the interstate until I actually looked over my shoulder last time I was down here. In case you were wondering why I take pics of road signs, bridges, etc. I have an infatuation with public infrastructure/construction. Been that way since I was a kid.
lcookie Posted October 13, 2019 Author #37 Share Posted October 13, 2019 So after about 4 hours on the road we end up in the middle of nowhere FL!
lcookie Posted October 13, 2019 Author #38 Share Posted October 13, 2019 It is time for our pre-cruise excursion.
lcookie Posted October 13, 2019 Author #39 Share Posted October 13, 2019 We had an awesome time. The only hiccup was they wind was up a bit so it made rowing a bit problematic. Other than that it was picture perfect. It was also pitch black. If you are not comfortable on the water at night this is not the excursion for you. lcookie Posted October 13, 2019 Author #40 Share Posted October 13, 2019 (edited) Regular cameras are not equipped to capture these images so you will have to take my word that it was worth doing. Watching the water light up with each paddle stroke is truly breathtaking. It was just as I pictured it in my head. Not quite as vivid as the videos you see online, but for sure enough for you to feel like you got your moneys worth and it was not even peak season. Here is a good example of what we saw. We booked with BK Adventures. They were very professional and I highly recommend them. If you do go with them say hi to Shawn for us! lcookie Posted October 13, 2019 Author #41 Share Posted October 13, 2019 With the excursion behind us it is now time to secure some room and board for the night. We jump in the car and head towards Cape Canaveral. These roads in central nowhere FL are seriously dark.
lcookie Posted October 13, 2019 Author #42 Share Posted October 13, 2019 Made it to the Cape! Being so late I figured it was going to be hard to find a spot open that was not on the verge of closing, and I was not in the mood for fast food. As luck would have it we found a spot on the water that was open until midnight. That was perfect. I am leery of eating at places that are within 30 minutes of closing and it was already 10:45. Welcome to Gators Dockside Grill!
lcookie Posted October 13, 2019 Author #43 Share Posted October 13, 2019 When we got there the place was a ghost town. So much that I thought the hours online were not accurate. However, they were very much open and totally worth the stop. The spot is a sports bar right on the waterfront. Cruise port in the background Container yard directly across the channel. Even if they don't last in the restaurant business they are sitting on a real estate goldmine.

lcookie Posted October 14, 2019 Author #48 Share Posted October 14, 2019 The food was excellent and so was the atmosphere. If I ever port out of Canaveral again I will definitely be going back. One more shot of Exploration Tower
lcookie Posted October 14, 2019 Author #49 Share Posted October 14, 2019 With our bellies full it was now time to find a place to rest our heads. We ended up selecting the Four Points by Sheraton. It is connected to this surf shop. So here we are 17 hours into our journey and we finally have a spot to rest our head. These two were so ready to shut it down. Summing up our time thus far we are two days into our trip and having a ball. Just to think we haven't even boarded the ship yet. The cruise is 5 days but our vacation is going to run 9 days strong! Be sure to check back for tomorrow's adventure because the "Big Secret" is revealed!
