Montanagirlalways Posted October 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2019 We plan to stay in Rome a few days after disembarking from a TA. Does anyone recall if there is an excursion in the morning from the ship with a drop off in Rome? When we disembarked in Barcelona after a TA we took an excursion that dropped us off by the Ramblas. Also any suggestions for a hotel-decent, moderately priced near maybe the Colosseum or a location you thought was great. Thanks
Giantfan13 Posted October 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2019 I don't know about an excursion, but we have been to Civi several times and there are many taxi's/vans at the dock offering rides to Rome for, what I felt, was a very good price. Rare Tapi Posted October 11, 2019 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2019 We used Rome Cabs for all of our transportation needs In Rome (Airport-Hotel, Hotel-Port, Port-Airport). We booked and pre-paid for all of it online in advance. They were on time, professional, and courteous. Excellent, prompt service. They do offer some customizable options that combine transportation to-from the port with a tour of the city. As far as hotels go, you’ll probably get tons of suggestions. We selected Starhotels Michelangelo, a few minutes walking distance from the Vatican because that was our main focus during our pre-cruise stay. Very nice hotel with modern rooms in a fairly uncrowded part of town. The hotel was located in a quaint and more residential area, with small restaurants and shops nearby. We’d see locals walking their dogs down the street, or walking to/from church or the grocery story. This location proved to be easier on my pocket since we weren’t paying the exorbitant prices that restaurants in more touristy areas charge. We absolutely loved the location and the very close proximity to the Vatican!
The Other Tom Posted October 12, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2019 We used Rick Steve's book on Rome to find a hotel and generally educate ourselves on Rome. Highly recommended.
Rare Newleno Posted October 12, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 12, 2019 If mobile and light luggage take the train, we do it all the time!
mingo Posted October 12, 2019 #6 Share Posted October 12, 2019 I highly recommend All Around Italy with Fabrizio. He made our whole trip. He met us in all Italy ports for private tours. He’s the best!
