crusinpsychRN Posted March 22, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2020 Have spent a bit of time looking at food videos on cruise ships. Fun seeing various lines and what they offer. Really makes me want to book. Instead of a towel on a lounger by the pool I'll put my on a seat in the MDR!
Bookish Angel Posted April 3, 2020 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2020 (edited) I think it depends on the person and perhaps the ship. I have never eaten anything on a cruise ship that could come close to my husband’s basic, not-haute-cuisine home cooking. I like to travel but can never get back to healthful home-cooked food soon enough. Edited April 3, 2020 by Bookish Angel

Everyone's tastes are different and most surely the Executive Chef of the ship on which one sails will have an important impact on the cuisine that one experiences. Some of these chefs are better than others. Believe me! On 3/22/2020 at 1:40 PM, crusinpsychRN said: Have spent a bit of time looking at food videos on cruise ships. Like you, I enjoy seeing the different offerings, particularly the different versions of some items. An example: Escargots are prepared somewhat differently on Princess, Holland America, Carnival, and MSC. MSC's was the most different that I have experienced. Pesto was an important ingredient in the sauce. When the dish was served and it was "somewhat green", I thought--what? It was delicious; different, but still good. I do still enjoy getting home after cruises that are long. Haute cuisine can become a bit much after awhile.
