Geoffa30 Posted May 3, 2020 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2020 We have a cruise booked in September on Iona. Final balance is due in a month. We cannot see the cruise happening and so do not want to risk paying anything further. Yesterday we took the decision to change the cruise to one in November 2020 - could still possibly be too early but one can dream. We tried calling multiple P&O numbers throughout yesterday. All started with the same pre-recorded message about the pause in operations, it then went to a few seconds of music and cut off. My question is whether this has been other people’s experience. Are phone lines closed or were they just having a particularly bad day yesterday? Any help would be appreciated.
Rare Selbourne Posted May 3, 2020 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2020 A lot of people have been reporting similar issues, but I called P&O at 0915 one weekday morning recently (the time that I believe they open) and I got through almost immediately (after all the pre recorded messages and options). Sensible to postpone but keep in mind that if you defer by just 2 months you will have all this hassle again in just 2 months time! You don’t have to commit to a specific cruise at the point you convert a deposit to FCC. We have recently deferred a £350 deposit to FCC but won’t be booking a cruise until we are all vaccinated, so don’t anticipate using it for a booking for a year or more. Rare Eddie99 Posted May 3, 2020 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2020 I seem to remember that, if you use the website and go through the process to arrange an FCC there is a box to tick to say you want to book a future cruise, in which case P&O phone you. Might be worth having a look for that, to save some frustration?
