katie47 Posted January 9, 2021 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2021 Because of Covid we have had two cruises cancelled for Hawaii, the cruises were to leave from California on a 15 cruise. We were to cruise in April both times. Now Carnival is not offering an April cruise to Hawaii, the only months offered are Nov. and Jan. I don't think we will enjoy going during these months because of the weather. I want to enjoy the days at sea outside enjoying the decks, pool and sun. I fear we will not get this this time of year. Any thoughts from past cruisers on this voyage?
CruiserBruce Posted January 10, 2021 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2021 As discussed here frequently, the first 36-48 hours after sailing, and the last 36-48 hours going home can be cooler and rougher. Yes, it is late fall (November) and winter (January), so it will be cooler for those periods. Hawaii will be great. Was just in SoCal last week for 10 days. It was mid 60s to mid 70s...no rain. Those temps were pretty nice, and not really rare. But you could stumble upon a storm, more likely for the January dates.
KeepCalmBearOn Posted January 15, 2021 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2021 We've done this trip in Nov and February and once in October. The first full day at sea can be cooler, but people sit out anyway. Maybe they are from cooler climes so it feels nice. We've loved all three trips and will do another when everything opens back up. We have done Hawaii once in the month of May. We flew to Honolulu and sailed back to San Diego. We did encounter cool temperatures, needed a windbreaker/ sweatshirt out on deck. Plus the seas got quite rough. Going back February 2022, this time 15 days round trip from San Diego.
