Richst48 Posted March 10, 2021 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2021 Has anyone flown in to the Long Beach airport, specifically on an Embraer 175 plane? We are planning a trip there and that is the closest airport but my wife uses a mobility scooter and I was trying to find out if that airport has gangways to the planes or do you have to climb stairs to board? kokopelli-az Posted March 10, 2021 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2021 I would contact the airline you are using and ask them specifically. All airlines flying within the United States are required to comply with the Air Carrier Access Act but make sure you have notified your airline of your requirements ahead of time. A summary of the Act is here: https://wheelchairtravel.org/air-travel/air-carrier-access-act-summary/ A couple of websites with additional information: http://www.longbeach.gov/lgb/airlines-destinations/accessibility/ https://www.yelp.com/questions/long-beach-airport-lgb-how-do-they-handle-getting-on-and-off-the-plane-with-a-wheelchair-our-son/2VIDz8PBr5GoasMysX3tiA
Greg4502 Posted September 29, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2021 They have ramps that are pulled up to the aircraft. Not a jetway or stairs. As you get off the plane and walk into the terminal, it's one story.
cruising twosome Posted October 4, 2021 #4 Share Posted October 4, 2021 (edited) We fly into Long Beach all the time to visit our oldest daughter and family. We take the scooter to the ramps outside of the plane, they take him up to the plane with a wheelchair, I then help him into the plane to our seats, scooter goes under the plane. When he can no longer walk into the plane, there a transfer chairs that goes into the airplane and right to his seat. We always fly Southwest.
