Royal Up

Hi.  We haven't cruised on Royal since 2015.  I tried "searching" for info but have few questions.  We are on the August 28th Adventure cruise.  We are currently in a JS and there appears to be a lot of regular suites available for our sailing.  How does the Royal Up work and when is it offered?  Thank you in advance!

Basically you will get an email with a link to a website where you put in a "bid" to upgrade (basically the amount more you're willing to pay per person to upgrade to the room category you want). There is a little slider for each room category available to upgrade to and it tells you your likelihood of Royal accepting the bid (more likely the higher you go). 

 

You then submit your payment information and if your bid is accepted you are immediately charged the full amount of your bid. They make it clear that once you confirm your bid, you cannot cancel the upgrade and have to pay the bid amount. 

 

To be clear the bids aren't generally immediately accepted. It's usually a few days or weeks after placing it that you find out whether the bid was accepted or not.

You can also check on their web site but usually not until 30 days before the cruise.  https://www.royalcaribbean.com/booked/cruise-room-upgrade

 

Until cruises start going regularly again nobody really knows how this will work.
