Bringing onboard wine for cabin?

My friend and I decided to see if the I board one time/you board another time, both carrying two bottles of wine,  would work. We were in a suite so had access to Michael’s Club and the decent  wines it serves. We got all four bottles of high end wine (yes, we are snobs, connoisseurs, whatever) on board with no issues. On the second Evening Chic night of the seven night cruise, we still had two unopened bottles. We decided to take one to Luminae and pay the corkage fee. Or should I say “what corkage fee?”

Our sommelier came over and we showed him the bottle we had brought with us. His eyes enlarged slightly and said “ I will be right back with a chiller.” When he opened it, he asked who would be tasting it. I replied”you will.” He preened, said it needs to breathe, and disappeared. Ten minutes later, he returned with a glass, tasted it, and gave it his approval. We increased his gratuity by the amount of the corkage fee he didn’t charge us.
