You realize of course that the pigs are unwilling participants in this unnatural tourist event??

No, I really don’t.  Pigs like to swim. I live down the road from a pig farmer and see them swimming in the summer.  They like to be fed apples.  And if habituated from an early age they like to be petted.  Not sure what’s “unnatural” about it.  Swimming and eating apples are natural.  I guess the only unnatural thing would be being petted and I guarantee you if they didn’t want to be petted they’d bite the snot out of you.

So, if anyone knows a source I’d appreciate it.

Last time I was there,I realized the pigs were kept on an island/sand bar of sorts just off a beach….fed occasionally & drowned when the tide came in per the local guy next door  that heard them squealing for help as they were left unattended for days on end if no “customers” came along.   Still haunts me.

There is a place in the Bahamas where pigs have lived a long time, no one really knows how they got there. It’s a popular tourist attraction, but it takes a while to get there, so it doesn’t work as a cruise excursion. Recently folks decided to do a fake version of that island, buy some pigs, charge people money for the experience of swimming with domestic pigs. https://www.bahamas.com/experiences/official-home-swimming-pigs

Yes. I think this might be the confusion.

when I was looking I saw this one but it was very far away from a cruise port and expensive to get to. Then I found the other one and it took me a bit to figure it out.

I chose to skip doing the excursion for that reason.
