Booking Cruise anticipating RCL card Redemption

Sorry if this one has been covered in the past. 

 

We are getting close to the point we can use the RCL award points for an OV room on a cruise.

 

Can we book the cruise now, anticipating the upcoming award, and then use the voucher to pay the remaining balance on the sailing?

 

I just see rooms available now that may not be available 2 months from now, and was hoping to snag the room.

As long as you have paid for the balance on the card to get you to the award level.  If your payment for the cruise is what got you to that level, you can't later swap the credit for your payment and get a refund, you'd be forfeiting the points by doing that.
