We had E729 and E731 on the Ruby Princess for a 10 day Alaska cruise earlier this summer.  We never experienced any issues with smoke or the connecting door either.  I believe the smoking are on the beck below that is a few cabins forward.  Plus it was an Alaska cruise so more people may have used the casino for smoking.

Yes.....actually two....one in each cabin on the Ruby....there was not a sound problem  and each door has an individual lock.
