Mostonian Posted January 23, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2022 If I purchased a wine package before I embark on my cruise in April, would I avoid paying the 15% service charge and the Spanish tax which is applied to purchases when sailing in their territorial waters? exlondoner Posted January 23, 2022 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2022 Don't know about the service charge, but in my experience they are very adept at remembering to charge for wine after one has left Spanish waters. In this case you have paid for the wine in the UK, so it's nothing to do with Spain.
bluemarble Posted January 23, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2022 A Cunard "Wine Collections" brochure I have from 2019 states "Terms & Conditions. All prices are quoted in US Dollars, are inclusive of 15% service charge and are subject to change."
BigMac1953 Posted January 24, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2022 You do not pay IVA or service charges on wine packages. A good sommelier will also be careful when ordering (in advance) to ensure you don't have to pay extra taxes unnecessarily.
