Just got off Rotterdam yesterday. There were about 900 passengers on board, and only one main show on the World Stage at 7 pm each evening. The Piano music in the Ocean Bar and the quartet in Lincoln Center Stage both started at 5, with Billboard starting around 7 or 8 and BBKings a little later. Movies on the big screen at the pool started around 9. Of course, this could vary dramatically based on the number of people sailing.

Sounds like HAL is doing everything in its power to make sure people retire to their cabins early.
I remember when there were piano bars on the ships, and they didn't even start until 11:00 PM! Now it's hard to find anything after 10:00. Not impossible, but not to everyone's taste, either.

Yep ... The Billboard Onboard players now think they are doing everybody a great favour by playing one extra song at the end of their last set and that we should all be forever grateful 🙂 We have been in the old Piano Bars quite a few times well after one o'clock with Cruise Directors, other ship entertainers and musicians, etc.  I recall one occasion when the piano player actually got on his phone after midnight and called one of the showroom singers to come up and sing a few songs! On a few occasions, another piano player would get up at midnight, go close the door to the Piano Bar and party on until folks went home.

There was a time before that when staff, crew, officers, etc. were not allowed in the Piano Bar at all. It was passengers and the piano player only. Even other musicians from the various bands were not allowed in.
But that was when it was a real piano bar, and not a venue where entertainment was presented. It was more of a party every night, where the passengers were the guests, and made their own fun. Loved the atmosphere.
