Transatlantic in late November. Port or Starboard?

Recommended Posts

Hi. We are booking our first ever TA for November 2023, heading West; Rome to FLL. We are contemplating which side. We are aft people, but there are no aft for the category we want on this ship.

Which side do you prefer and why?

Thank you!

On the port side you would be on the sunnier side all day every day -- significant if you are talking about a balcony -- which would be a lot less usable on the shaded starboard side.  We have made four westbound TA's from Rome in late October/early November - it really makes difference.

That was our guess, but we wanted confirmation. Thank you! Yes; those temps will be chilly for all but the last 2-3 days, so we want sun.

Thank you so much!

Actually, the Med in November can be comfortable --- and depending on your course:  will you be stopping in the Azores (possibly chilly), Madeira (not as chilly), the Canaries (likely warm) - much of your crossing should be comfortable, as the Atlantic keeps its summer warmth through November (which is still hurricane season - dependent on ocean sea temps)  - still being on the sunny side makes the balcony a whole lot more useful.

Good point.

I also like the thought of a few 25 hour days. That’s the reason we decided on this direction.

That’s another plus of a westbound TA - also great to come home and not have a coupe of days overcoming jet lag - which I have always found more of a bother westbound — not to mention getting the flight out of the way early, rather than having it taint the end of your trip.

We are 15 minutes from the port. It’s the only reason we primarily cruise The Caribbean. Less cost, in both money and time.
