Some Enchanted Evening - A pictorial review of the Enchanted Princess in the Southern Caribbean

We were not allowed to get off at the gate where the cruise ship people went but had to walk through thru the store area and a temperature check before entering the parking lot . We met Dylan from St Lu Taxi and had an instant bond . He's a little younger than our children and a little older than our grandson , but he reminds us of our grandson' s friend .

 

 

 

He seemed surprised and pleased when we knew the music that he was playing in the background . He's a very good and safe driver with lots of hills and valleys and knew the area very well . He was very attentive to our wishes and also nice and somewhat protective which was nice as some of the hawkers could be very persistent at some of the overlooks . 1st overlook .

 

 

 

 

 

 

We didn't recognize him at first because of his disguise but we thought that the man that we met was a jewelry salesman . But as we talked he told us his true identity - OO7 in a very convincing undercover role . And he had the Tat to prove it . And with his mask off , we could see the resemblance .

While waiting for the next place to open we noticed a papaya plant . We have one growing at home and are waiting for the fruit to ripen . And this week we have a couple of pineapple babies to report .

The first viewing platform small camera . I dropped a black lens wipe on the viewing platform by accident and a guy began kicking it toward the edge of the platform my wife saw it and rescued it before it went over the edge .

 

 

 

 

 

There were a number of young men here who began making a fish or a cricket from a palm leaf and giving it to Pat and or other people who stopped here .

We next stopped at the Diamond Botanical Gardens . We were greeted by self -described Alexander the great - the walking encyclopedia .

 

 

 

His energy and enthusiasm didn't stop the whole tour .

 

 

He became really excited when he saw a Saint Lucia Cuckoo and told another group all about it . He kept trying to get me to photograph the bird but he was having none of it until Pat stepped in and took the shot . 

 

 

We have the Mangrove Cuckoos living near us .

So enjoying all your beautiful photos and wonderful report.  Thank you for taking the time to do this!

 

We are booked in a similar cabin on Riviera deck next year.  I'm wondering if you had any soot issues on your balcony?  It seems from photos that you certainly enjoyed spending time out there!

As you mentioned, Lighthouse Beach won't be public much longer. This is the planned location of Disney Cruise Line's new private destination, which frankly looks amazing.

You're welcome . It's a nice way to remember memories - with photos and a fun hobby . No soot issues and we did spend a lot of time on the veranda . We try to avoid the hot part of the day but we love our sun rises and sets and a nice glass of wine or some food and out of the wind .

Am I understanding this right, that Eleuthera will have Princess Cays and now Disney cruise Lighthouse Point? That is a lot of cruise ships private destination for a small island.  Maybe I misunderstood??

We thought that it was amazing the way it was like so many of our beaches here in Florida . Of course the government and Big Business is always around the fix things that aren't broken . Reminds me of the old song lyrics of the 60's They've saved Paradise and put up a Parking lot (from Big Yellow Taxi ) .

The Island of Eleuthera is 110 miles long and both Princess Cay and the Disney Lighthouse Point are in the South of the island with Disney now owning and developing the southern tip .

 

  In early March 2019, Disney Cruise Line purchased the Lighthouse Point property on the island of Eleuthera and agreed to a development plan for the area with the Bahamian government. Disney is expected to spend between $250 million and $400 million on developing the 700 acre property, and donate 190 acres - including the southernmost tip - to the government for a national park.

 Eleuthera is also where the people who staff Half Moon Cay  ( Little San Salvador ) come from . It's about 30 miles from Eleuthera .

At lunch we needed to wash up downstairs and here was the view from downstairs

 

 

 

 

 

We had always SCUBA dove before and had only seen the Pitons at sea level . This time we we got to see them face to face .
