Hawaii697 Posted May 15, 2004 #26 Share Posted May 15, 2004 Vidimom, I had the opportunity to sail with both Troy Linton and Malcolm in the Middle on my August 26-September 2, 2001 cruise. I had the pleasure of meeting both and they were the best. Troy went out of his way to make the folks he meet feel special. One night on our cruise, my sister and girlfriend were taking pix in the Piano bar while it was empty. All of such a nicely dressed young man comes up and asks, if we'd like a picture with all of us. I recognized right away it was Troy. He even took a picture with us. Malcolm was the Assistant Cruise director along with Francessa cruise director in training. They were all the best. To describe Malcolm, tall, lanky, me thinks his hair may have been blondish or reddish, African American young man. One night Malcolm and Francessa had a limbo line going but no pole. Since this was going on, on the Lido deck, I raced over to were the silverware was and grabbed a couple of cloth napkins, tied them together and there, was a "limbo" pole. Malcolm nicknamed me "McGyver" for the rest of the cruise and it also earned me a "ship on the stick". Haaa, the memories. I heard a while back he was a cruise director. Hoping Malcolm or Troy will be on the Destiny next year when I sail her again. Also, sailed with Mr. Hearld last year on the Triumph. He was pretty funny as well. My vote: Destiny, August 21, 2001 - Troy Linton Triumph, August 17, 2003 - John Herald Sorry to babble, just reliving the memories. Smooth sailin' all!
Cruisin' Southern Caribbean August 2005
Vidimom Posted May 16, 2004 Author #27 Share Posted May 16, 2004 Thanks Hawaii697!!! That is exactly who I thought Malcom was. He was a real character!!! I will never forget during the show in which Troy wore a Tutu, Malcom came out dressed like Dracula and low and behold, tore off the costume and put on somewhat of a stripper show! As tall and lanky as he was, it was fantastic and had us rolling in the aisles. You cruised 2 weeks before we did, unfortunately, we were on the cruise when the 9/11 distaster happened and talking about a crew pulling together to keep things going, Troy and Malcom did just that. I don't remember there being a female host then, but I could be wrong. Maybe she didn't make the impression on us that the guys did. Troy is very personable and we talked with him several times throughout the cruise. We even sat in one of the bars and had a drink with him. Super nice guy and very hard working! Would also love to cruise with him again.! Sensation 9/98 10th anniv. This was his first cruise as CD. He did a great job and I'd cruise on his ships again. May 2004 just off the Triumph yesterday JOHN HEALD. Funny but no better than Malcom. Dont get what the big deal is. (MHO) He seems to be full of himself, & not seen around the ship. Also seemed forgetful.
