mared1 Posted March 27, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2022 Will I be able to request an ice bucket filled with ice and wine glasses delivered to my cabin before we embark? We want to chill champagne for sail away.
Rare pasodancer Posted March 27, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2022 It might be extremely difficult to do. Staff is busy turning the ship around and are normally pre-occupied with setting the cabins, luggage, laundry, etc. You could always "DIY" - a disposable ice bucket (Amazon) and ice from the Windjammer so that you could have your chilled champagne for sail away.
Wineaux007 Posted March 27, 2022 #3 Share Posted March 27, 2022 You probably will have to wait until you get on board for that request. The attendants are usually busy hauling luggage or on break after cleaning all the rooms. If you get on board when rooms are ready, call room service to have it delivered.
MrCruzeaddict Posted March 27, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2022 We just ask for ice when our steward show up to introduce him (her) self. I don't think that you can request it before you embark. jd
flamingos Posted March 27, 2022 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2022 It would help if you had the bottle cooled before you left the hotel or home. If you're driving yourself, keep it in a cooler in the car and get one of those neat little cooler sleeves to bring it on board. That's a head start. FTLCruiseGal Posted March 27, 2022 #6 Share Posted March 27, 2022 There are plenty of options for insulated wine/champagne carriers on Amazon. Get one that holds 2 bottles and pack the bottle on ice. If you are staying at a hotel prior, you can use their ice machine. If not, get ice from the windjammer as soon as you board.
leaveitallbehind Posted March 27, 2022 #7 Share Posted March 27, 2022 As others have mentioned I am not aware of any way to request this pre-boarding. And the point about the activity level of the stateroom attendants during boarding day would also add to that even if there was a way. However once you board and have an opportunity to meet your attendant - which usually occurs at or shortly after you reach your stateroom - they may be able to get an ice bucket and glasses for you in a reasonable period of time. And although it is not a standard refrigerator and more of a cooler, you can place your bottle in the cooler to chill it down a little prior to sail away if an ice bucket is not available in time. EdandMary Posted March 27, 2022 #8 Share Posted March 27, 2022 On previous cruises, if we wanted ice we would take our empty ice bucket to either the windjammer or any bar or restaurant and they would fill it. The cabin steward is way too busy to get it the first day.

foxgoodrich Posted March 27, 2022 #11 Share Posted March 27, 2022 (edited) Just go to any bar after you board and ask one of the bar staff for a bucket of ice (for chilling champagne) and champagne flutes. Then take them back to your cabin and chill your champagne. The plastic wine chilling bucket is larger than the in-room ice bucket. It's quite easy to take care of this yourself, rather than adding something to your room steward's busiest day of the week. onefishtwofish Posted March 27, 2022 #12 Share Posted March 27, 2022 We were just on Odyssey and we asked our cabin steward when we met him for some ice and he brought it right away...guess it all depends but doesn't hurt to ask!!
