Just back from the Legend today

Welcome Back!! I'm going in two weeks and I can't wait. Of course I want to here all of the details about the ship and the ports. Will you be writting a review? I have specific questions regarding embarkation and debarkation. What time did you get on the ship last week and what time were you off the ship this morning. Also if you remember the name of the CD I would love to know.

Thanks,

Nancy

I would like to know about the BVI card that is in our docs. Do we need to fill that out ahead of time before we board the ship or will they instruct us on filling it on before we port in Tortola? Also, did you go to Virgin Gorda and if so how was it. I am also going in two weks.

We left 5/7 very late because there was an immigration problem with the people getting off the Legend that morning. We were held up on the pier for a couple of hours and then when we got on board we didn't sail until 6:30 pm and at that time we were already in the dining room. Getting off today was very smooth. Apparently things do happen but it doesn't mean it will happen on every cruise. So go and have fun. I will try to write a review in the next few days. I did fill out the cards ahead of time and they took them when I boarded. Did not go to Virgin Gorda sorry can't help you on that one.

Thanks, I think it's my friend from the Victory cruise. Was he a shorter man with a english accent? I have his name in my photo album, but we are in the process of moving to Boca Raton, Florida and I can't get to it right now. We called him Chris "Dahling"! He really was a doll! We can't wait until our cruise in November, I have a feeling they will change CD's by then and we will miss him. We can just keep wishing anyway.

The CD on Legend was Chris Jefferson and he was great. A small thin Englishman and very funny.

We had a balcony cabin on Deck 5 with obstructed view but it was okay because you could see over the life boat. Food was fab. St. Thomas was great - went shopping the stores are wonderful. I hope I covered all your questions if not I will. No problems at all. Everything was wonderful.

I also hope Chris is on the Legend in November when we sail. I met him on the Victory in 2001 when he was a social host. He and I became friends on board and what was funny is he was calling the bingo game for the cruise and I won it!! I kept in touch with him for a short time after that then my computer crashed and I lost his email. He is very personable and very approachable. I hope we are lucky and have him on our cruise. Anyone know what the normal contract is for the CD's?

We were on the cruise too(me,wife, son, and daughter). It was an awesome experience. We had never been on a cruise before and definately will be doing it again. The cruise director's name was Chris Jefferson and he was very good. For those on the cruise with us, did you hear him sing? He was very very good. We were in cabin 8246 on deck 8 Promenade deck aft. Great cabin. We were right below Lido deck but really never heard much noise.Marshbear I can't remember the entire meno from the last night but I had prime rib.ckpan I would highly recommend Megans bay and Coki Point in st Thomas as well as the shopping on Main St.Laura they made sure you had all the cards for each member in your party filled out before you got to the check in desk so yes you need to do it ahead of time.I thought the food was very good. OK that's all the questions that I saw that I can remember. If anyone has anymore feel free to ask away.

Again it was an awesome ship and a fantastic time.

John

I will be leaving on the Legend this Sunday! Can't wait!

I had a few questions for you, if you don't mind...

A) What excursions/activities did you do on each island? How were they (price/fun)?

B) Are you a booze "smuggler"? Any success?

C) Were there a lot of children on the cruise?

Thanks in advance

Chewy

We had the prime rib the last nite also it was great. I am sorry we didn't get to the pier earlier as the earlier people got on board by lPM and were having lunch while we were standing in terminal for 2 or more hours waiting to board.

Chewy,

It was a fantastic trip

We arrived in San Juan around 1:00 and were able to get off the ship around 2:00.What an amazing site coming into port as you pass the old fort. Have your camera ready.

Walk right up the hills at the end of the peir and you will be in the Old San Juan shopping district. Stores are everywhere and yes they take plastic.

We didn't do any planned excursions just kind of walked around for a few hours and looked at all the sites and the shops in the brightly colored buildings. We also visited El Cristobol (the fort at the top of the hill) which had some great views and we went to the plaza. Went back on the ship for dinner then back out for some nightlife at the Wyndham resort and casino right by the ship.Big disappointment!!! Other than that we just walked around and looked at the sites some more at night.

In St. Thomas we ended up having to tender in from the bay which was ok because there were 3 other ships in port that day.The tender dropped us off downtown right by main street which had rows and rows of stores. Also there were rows of tents right there with people selling things . My wife loved it there. All this was about a mile from the actual ship dock so it was easy to get too if you were actually at the dock. I was told that Havensight Mall was right off the dock and had lots of shopping there too.

As far as excursions go we rented a Jeep from Budget ($75.00 ) for the day and set out on our own. We went to Megans bay first...Absolutely beautiful.... and had our first experience with a couple drinks known as a Bushwacker ,which my wife loved, and a Painkiller, which should really be called a painstarter lol. After a couple hours we headed over to Coki Beach because we had heard about the snorkling and we weren't disappointed. It was every thing we hoped for and more. Just fantastic. Beautiful fish everywhere along the reef on the east end. Then after a couple hours, and a couple more Bushwackers and Painkillers, we headed back to town to drop off the rental Jeep, stopping along the way at the top of the mountains to enjoy the view and take some photos. They dropped us back off downtown to spend a few hours shopping before getting back on the ship. As I said before there were rows and rows of stores. We bought cigarettes for about $15.00 per carton.

In Tortola There wasn't much shopping other than a village of tents with locals selling stuff. We got some things there too. We joined a bunch of other people and rented a a safari taxi to go to Cane Garden Bay for the day. $12.00 per person round trip. The drive over the mountains to the bay was worth the price of admission itself. You would have to do it to see what I mean lol. The beach at Cane Garden was beautiful. I would highly recommend it. After that we just went back to the tents and shopped some more and bought a few more things.

Lol i was not a "booze smuggler". We brought back 6 bottles.

We brought our 9 yr old daughter and 6 Yr old son. there was probably around 100 kids on board out of 2000 passengers. if you are asking because you are bringing yours then i would say they will have plenty to play with. If you are asking because you are not bringing kids then I will tell you there were none that were 'out of control'. I want to add that "Camp Carnival" is a fantastic thing for kids and parents alike. We all loved the advantages of it. Kids loved going there and we enjoyed quiet time to ourselves.

If you want to know anything else let me know.

John
