Ocean Five Hotel DayUse Pass Review

We booked a late flight departing MIA and took advantage of dayuse.com. Best decision we made to enjoy the beach, local eateries and chill for the day.  We booked a day use room for $89 at Ocean Five Hotel on Ocean Drive. The total cost including taxes and fees was $101.46.  Our day use room was from 8am to 5pm. We arrived around 8:30AM and left at 3PM. We took a lyft to the hotel and then a lyft from the hotel to MIA. We spent around $50 total for both lifts. So $151 for the day since we booked the late flight. If we had of booked the earlier flight it would have been an additional $300. So in the long run we saved $149. There were just two of us. I definitely recommend if you're booking a late flight and the cost to book an earlier flight is $300+. Well worth it to us.

The check in was seamless. Our room was in the building next door. The check in agent didn't give clear instructions. To enter the building next door, you go through the front door of the café next door and walk to the elevator. The elevator took us to the 2nd floor where our room was located. The Elevator is very small and old. Pack your patience. Ocean Five is an old boutique style hotel. Code name for old and tiny rooms. We had a queen bed that was low to the ground like a platform bed, think IKEA. This room was a mesh of old style, modern and traditional walk in huge tiled shower. You could tell they upgrade the rooms in phases. No clear vision. However, the room was clean, cool and the shower was hot and refreshing. Do not book for the amenities. There are not any and there is not a pool. This is a place to store your luggage, take a nap, take a shower after your beach day, cool off from the Miami heat and watch TV/surf the net.

The benefits of booking Ocean 5 is the LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!  You are near the corner of Ocean Drive and 5th street.  Plenty of eating places up and down Ocean Drive and the next street over Ocean Ct. Ocean Kitchen next door (Best croissant EVER!), Gelato two doors down and Friday's at the corner.  Walgreens, CVS, and numerous gift shops up and down Ocean Drive and Ocean Ct. To get to the beach, you walk to the corner, cross the street, walk to the dunes and walk over them and the beach and all of it's glory is there to greet you.  Fabulous beach day and you can rent loungers and umbrellas.  We were in the water and enjoying the beach. We didn't rent a lounger.  Ocean 5 provides beach towels. Ocean 5 did not have a pool. But who cares when the beach is across the street. We also walked along Ocean Drive on the beach side. It's a paved wide sidewalk for walking, running, cycling and rollerblading.

I would use dayuse.com again and book Ocean 5 in a heart beat.  I considered resortforaday.com. Most of these passes ran about $40/pp for use of their pool and the beach. $80 for the two of us plus taxes and fees.  For $9 more we got a full hotel room with a shower.  Hanging out at a pool and a beach would have been great. But being able to have a hot shower and chill, nap in our room was worth the extra $9. Plus we didn't have to worry about our luggage. It was in the room with us. It felt great to get away from the Miami heat and relax in a room. We had some place to go after we enjoyed Miami Beach. We also went out a 2nd time after resting for a while. Best decision we made to book a day use room at Ocean 5.
