I use Clarins self tanner.  It is not instant and takes a few hours.  I use it a few days prior to the cruise and then again every 3 days it’s so.  It’s not perfect but gives me a light color on my extremely white legs.  It doesn’t steak unless you don’t apply it carefully.  It washes off your hands after application easily.  It occasionally marks sheets or towels but completely washes out, no staining. It doesn’t smell great the first day but overall it’s the best I’ve found. Note I only use it on my legs.

I wear pantyhose as self tanner for my legs.  Works OK for me.
