AngryBirdah Posted May 12, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2022 Hi Everyone! My wife and I both earned the 30%-off certificates on our Spring Break Seashore cruise, which I'm looking to use on a late-summer Divina trip. Our typical party is the 2 of us and our 3 kids, but cabins for 5 are rare, and since kids-sail-free, so it costs very little extra to bring along the grandparents! Since we need 2 cabins (ideally near each other), it would be great to use both 30%-off certificates: - Cabin #1: Me/Grandma/2 kids - Cabin #2: Wife/Grandpa/1 kid I've read mixed reviews about being able to officially switch people and keys through Guest Services (in this case, switching Wife and Grandma). I guess that they could just carry each others' cards, but they'd have to remember to switch back whenever getting off the boat. It would also be problematic for playing in the casino. I had another thought though: If we paid the $5/each to get the Wristbands, then couldn't Wife and Grandma just permanently switch wristbands with each other? Then they'd have their physical cards for casino and debarkation, but always have the wristband to get into the right room? I don't even care which room on-board charges go to, since I'm paying for everything anyway and putting my credit card on both rooms. Any holes in this scheme? It seems like the wristband trick would keep things simple and not require a dreaded early-cruise trip to Guest Services! Thanks 😊

If you wish to make this change badly enough, you will need to make the immediate trip to Guest Services. Otherwise the cabin stewards will require to report to their supervisor what is happening. There are strict protocols in place for emergency, so the only way this can happen is officially through GS and new cards will be issued. It's a simple change for GS, so once it's done you can kick back and enjoy the cruise! 😉
dexddd Posted May 12, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2022 Wristbands to open doors? Pretty sure Divinia does not have that technology as of our sailing past September. And MSC not into the create extra cards.
dexddd Posted May 12, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2022 Also, not sure what you mean by 30% off certs. I can tell you we had fcc from March 2020. We had DW, DD, and myself. When trying to rebook, MSC said our fcc was now split across all three equally even though we paid High rate for DW and myself and much smaller for DD. FCC could not be split to different sailings or even two cabins on same trip. We all had to sail together in same room. If DD didn't go, we'd lose 1/3 of fcc. Go figure. This is a great idea! Apart from the detail that the Divina does not have the Wristbands. 7 hours ago, AngryBirdah said: I've read mixed reviews about being able to officially switch people and keys through Guest Services (in this case, switching Wife and Grandma). Yes, quite possible that MSC is more aware of this now. A straight NO from Guest Service would not surprise me at all.
Rare Morgsmom Posted May 12, 2022 #6 Share Posted May 12, 2022 The Divina does not have wristbands. Also, do not assume that even if you book adjoining cabins that you will keep them; there has been quite a lot of instances lately of cabins being swapped. As far as kids moving around or # of people, that would be an issue, too, as they will say occupancy by cabin is tied to life boats (which it is). Remember, even if you swap key cards your IMAGE (the photo taken upon embarkation) will be on the card, so if Grandma tries to get a drink using Mom's card there will be an issue.....
