Celebrity Beyond Greek Island Cruise Deck 7…. have I made a massive mistake?

Hi,

This is my first Cruise to celebrate our Big birthdays and anniversary and have been looking forward to it for many months now. But as the time is getting nearer I am looking at more and more You Tube vlogs and am starting to think my deck choice is maybe a wrong one! I did my research and already changed from deck six to deck 7, chose mid ship, no interconnecting rooms, cabins above and below etc but now think I’m going to be looking out on the lifeboats. My room is not stated as obstructed view but having just looked at a view from deck 6 I’m really worried now that my dream  of looking at the open sea is not going to be!! I’m being offered the move up and am so confused as I didn’t want to jeopardise my (I thought) carefully chosen room…..but now I’m thinking should I take anything that will get me a little higher. My husband says to stop looking at You Tube updates and stressing about it and just go and enjoy this totally new experience. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

I have not sailed on Beyond or any ships of that class. I have only sailed on M and S class ships.

Looking at the Beyond deck plans, the lifeboats appears to be located on Deck 5.

This means that on Deck 7, sitting on your chair, you will have an unobstructed view of the ocean.

Standing at the railing and looking directly below, of course, you will see the lifeboats. But that view of the lifeboats standing at the railing, will be the same, event if you go up a few more decks.

So, in my opinion, your husband is correct. From deck 7, mid-ship, you should really have a beautiful cruise to enjoy.

I wish you a great time on your cruise!

The lifeboats on the Edge Class Ships sit on the deck (5) not hanging.  Look down from any deck and you will see the giant life boats.  Nothing is obstructed on deck 7.

I think your husband is up to something good with this input.

He is clearly prepared to enjoy sea life and all that it has to offer even if it 'possibly' may or may not include seeing a few life boats... from the cabin window.

There are, potentially, greater issues to think about on your sailing, IMO.

Go, sail, enjoy!!!

bon voyage
