Need Advice Please

Should we cruise to Alaska the third week in June or July?  Thanks

My first piece of advice would be to look around the board. There are dozens of threads discussing weather and the "best" time of the season to cruise Alaska.

 

I would take either in a heartbeat. The day will be a little longer in June, and probably a little warmer in July. But the difference is not huge, and weather is quite variable in Alaska at all times of the year.

I would select the cruise which is more convenient for you.  There won't be much difference in the time frame ranging from the middle of June to the middle of July.

You can’t go wrong with either time frame. But one thing I will note is that by the third week of July the salmon should be running. It is a treat to see them and it also increases your chances of seeing bears as well.

The biggest month for salmon swimming into the Alaskan rivers to spawn is July.  Salmon means bears feeding on the river banks and eagles swooping in to grab scraps.
