moses0 Posted June 20, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2022 Does anyone know the nearest Car rental place to where QM2 Docks in Southampton? Do any of the companies deliver a car to the ship? Thanks.
Host Hattie Posted June 20, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2022 When are you sailing ? QM2 doesn't always use the same terminal. Europcar is showing a location near the Docks. Is it for a port call or the end of the cruise ?

There are several rental agencies equidistant from the cruise terminal, vaguely walkable in 20 - 25 minutes but to save time for any of them take a short taxi hop (under £10). Taxi rank at the cruise terminal, rental agency can call you a taxi when you return the car. Europcar & Hertz in a service road off West Quay Road behind City Cruise Terminal. Enterprise, National & Alamo opposite the train station in Western Esplanade. A few local rental agencies too but unverified. Avis, SixT , and others are at the airport, inconvenient. Canuker Posted June 29, 2022 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2022 OP: no mention of reason for car rental. Driving on that tiny, crowded island can be a challenge, to both your well being and your watch. I learned to drive in Britain but I would never rent a car there now. The UK has an incredible rail network; frequent services to all parts of the country from Southampton Central station, 5 minutes cab ride from the dock. Try www.nationalrail.co.uk to find a train to your destination. Pre-booking often gets you a better ticket price. To be fair, rail travel to/from Heathrow is tricky from/to Southampton. A direct bus service is better for that route (bus terminal near the rail station).
