Hamburg to Kiel to Warnemunde (MSC Preziosa to MSC Fantasia to MSC Poesia)

We are planning to book MSC Preziosa at Hamburg, MSC Fantasia at Kiel  & MSC Poesia at Warnemunde back to back cruises.

How to travel using public transport from

MSC Preziosa docked at Hamburg to MSC Fantasia docked at Kiel

MSC Fantasia docked at Kiel to MSC Poesia docked at Wanemunde

Is this easily possible between 9.00 to 13.00 (disembarking time to embarkation time, same day)

A) Cruise Center 3"  Steinwerder at Hamburg to Ostuferhafen Terminal's Berth 1 at Kiel

1) Taxi from Cruise Center 3" in the industrial harbor area of Steinwerder at Hamburg to Hamburg Hbf,

2) Regional train from Hamburg Hbf to Kiel Hbf, (buy on the spot tickets?)

3) Taxi from Kiel Hbf to Ostuferhafen Terminal's Berth 1 at Kiel

 

B) Ostuferhafen Terminal's Berth 1 at Kiel to  Warnemunde cruise terminal

1) Taxi from Ostuferhafen Terminal's Berth 1 at Kiel to Kiel HBf

2) Regional train from Kiel Hbf to Hamburg Hbf to Rostock Hbf

3) Taxi from Rostock Hbf to Warnemunde cruise terminal?

Hamburg to Kiel  --> This looks do-able - the train journey is about 90 minutes, running every 30 minutes.

 

Kiel to Warnemund -->  I don't see a way using public transport in 4 hours, especially as the connection time in Hamburg looks only 6 minutes, and the train to Rostock only once every 2 hours.  I think the only realistic option is to look for a transfer service.  If you do take the train, it is probably faster to take the train to Warnemund instead of a taxi from Rostock.

I know, you're asking for public transportation, but considering lots of connections, that might not even to be the easiest and the most economically efficient way to go. From Hamburg to Kiel and return, MSC used to have a shuttle bus running, at least from ship to center city. Then a taxi may suffix to the next port. For the other leg to Warnemunde I don't really know if they have a shuttle or not. Considering long distances, a transfer service may be worth to consider. Taxis in Germany use to be on the expensive side of the pound.

Good decision, will make it easier for you! Kiel - Warnemuende by public transport would take about 6 hrs.

 

For Hamburg to Kiel as well as Kiel to Hamburg, you may be able to book a shuttle through MSC. This is is usually offered for passengers cruising from/to Kiel.

BTW MSC is also offering a (paid) shuttle from Steinwerder to Hamburg Central Station and also from Kiel Central Station to Ostuferhafen.
