Sint Maarten help, please!

We have booked a Seabourn round trip Sint Maarten for next February. Before we board we are staying on the French side for a week for a bit of warmth and to escape our British winter!

We have a villa booked and are looking for car rental. It seems very confusing insurance wise. The car rental companies seem to expect us to have insurance cover with our credit card, something that appears to be common in the USA but isn’t here.

Can anyone recommend a car rental company they have used where they can actually purchase CDW as an add on? The other insurance, liability, is always offered as an add on but after reading a Sint Maarten forum it appears that this is a con as all cars there have to have liability insurance anyway so we would be paying for something that the car already has.

Help!

@margbem You might try posting your question over in the CC Caribbean forum as well. I suspect many Seabourn cruisers who have started or ended cruises in St. Maarten (as we did in March!) may have spent a day or two on the Dutch side, near the airport and cruise port, and not rented a car. The other forum might give your question wider visibility.

It's usually an issue DECLINING the optional CDW as it's a big money-maker for the car rental companies.
